Meet the Maker

Maybe Mabel was founded in 2013 by designer and maker Lauren Holloway.

Originally from the Midlands, Lauren moved up to Newcastle upon Tyne to study photography and after many years working in this field along with some years living and travelling abroad she found herself sat behind a vintage Singer sewing machine making her first range of bags.

Having worked closely with textiles and sculpture throughout school and college it felt natural for Lauren to get back to a more 'hands-on' craft. She opened an online shop and watched it grow, adding more products to her range and honing her skills.

In 2015 she moved to Bristol in the South West of England, a vibrant city known for it's thriving creative scene and focus on small ethical businesses. Lauren designs and make all her products from her studio near the centre of the city.

Lauren loves the whole process of designing and making - from coming up with the initial idea to handpicking each element from fabrics to hardware, focusing not only on functionality but on aesthetics and originality. Her aim is to create beautiful products that are made with care and attention to detail with a focus on sustainable and ethical manufacturing.
